Dahi-Chiura “दही-चिउरा” Recipe: Delicious mix of Yogurt & Beaten Rice | Episode: 4

This video will show you how to make Dahi-Chiura “दही-चिउरा”: A delicious mix of Yogurt & Beaten Rice.

Nepal is very rich in ancient religion, culture and festival. Various special dishes are prepared to celebrate each season, festivals, auspicious occasions and family gathering or picnic.

Every “Asar 15” (end of June), “Dahi Chiura” is served to mark the start of rice/paddy plantation.

Beside other benefits, it helps you cool down in hot summer days and is very easy to make.

Here are the ingredients. Again, adjust per your taste or dish size.
Plain Yogurt or Homemade Curd – 1 cup

Flattened/Beaten Rice – ½ cup

Sugar* -1 tablespoon (or according to your taste)
* You can also substitute sugar with jaggery “Sakhhar – सख्हर” or honey

1 ripe banana. You can also add other fruits like mango, grape, etc.

Steps:
Pour 1/2 cup of flattened rice in a plate or bowl
Add yogurt on top
Add sugar

Note: Don’t let this mix sit for too long. It taste best if you eat it right-away.

Next, cut banana into small pieces and add on top.

“Dahi-Chiura” is now ready to stir/mix and then it’s ready to eat!
