As requested by many of our viewers, today I am going to show you simple steps to make “Yellow Laping (aka Lafing/Laphing/लाफ़िङ्ग/लापिङ्ग/लापिंग/लाफिंग)” from scratch at home.

Here are the ingredients for Laping:

  1. All Purpose Flour (aka Maida): 2 cups (315 grams)
  2. Salt: 1 pinch (1/4 teaspoon)
  3. Water: 160 ml

Laping Sauce Ingredients:

  1. Lemon Juice “कागतीको रस”: 3 tablespoons
  2. Green Onions “हरियो प्याज”: 2 and 1/2 tablespoons. Chopped without leaves.
  3. Light Soy Sauce “फ़िक्का भटमासको सौस”: 1 and 1/2 teaspoons
  4. Dark Soy Sauce “गाढा भटमासको सौस”: 1/2 teaspoon
  5. Water “पानी”
  6. Sesame Seed Oil “तिलको तेल”: 1 teaspoon
  7. Chili Oil “खोर्सानीको तेल”: 1 and 1/2 tablespoon
  8. Salt “नुन”: 1 teaspoon (or per your taste)
  9. Ajinomoto “अजिनोमोटो” aka MonoSodium Glutamate (MSG): 1 pinch
  10. Mustard Oil “तोरीको तेल”: 1/2 teaspoon
  11. Sichuan Pepper Powder “टिम्मुरको धूलो”: 1 pinch
  12. Freshly Minced Garlic “ताजा कोरेको लसुन”: 1 teaspoon
  13. Freshly Minced Ginger “ताजा कोरेको अदुवा”: 1 teaspoon

Ingredients for “Dry Laping” Tortillas (Roti) Sauce:

  1. Vegetable Oil (तेल): 1/2 cup
  2. Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder (कश्मीरी रातो खोर्सानीको धुलो): 2 tablespoons. I chose this Chili because it’s less hotter than other.
  3. Fried Black Sesame Seed Powder (भुटेको कालो तिलको धुलो): 1 tablespoon
  4. Balsamic Vinegar (बाल्सेमिक विनेगर): 2 tablespoons
  5. Sichuan Pepper Powder (टिम्मुरको धूलो): 1/4 teaspoon

  5. Salt “नुन”: Per your taste (Note: Soy sauce is already salty)
  6. Ajinomoto “अजिनोमोटो” aka Monosodium
  7. Glutamate (MSG; グルタミン酸ナトリウム): 1 pinch optional
  8. Sichuan Pepper Powder “टिम्मुरको धूलो”: 1/4 teaspoon
  9. Chili Oil “खोर्सानीको तेल”: 1 and ½ tablespoons
