Legend behind the Bhaleshwor Temple at Chandra Giri Hills:
When lord Mahadev was roaming the earth carrying his wife Goddess Sati Devi’s dead body this hill is believed to be the place where her forehead fell off her body according to Skanda Purāṇa’s Himwat verse, Chapter 98 and 99th. Bhaleshwor translates to lord Mahadev’s temple created from Goddess Sati’s forehead. People have been coming here since the Pauranic (beginning of time) age believing their wishes will be fulfilled by lord Shiva.

They have built very attractive children’s play area, restaurants, resort (under construction) and rest areas for visitors.  You will find the air is cooler, very clean and relaxing up there.  Cameras are not allowed inside the temple.

Legend Behind the King Prithvi Narayan Shah:
It is believed that because of the blessing of Ichhyashwor Mahadev “ईच्छास्वर महादेव”, King Prithvi Narayan Shah was successful in taking over the Kathmandu Valley.

• Helpful Info.:
Skanda Purana: “The Skanda Purāṇa is the largest Mahāpurāṇa, a genre of eighteen Hindu religious texts. The text is devoted mainly to the lilas of Kartikeya, a son of Shiva and Parvati, who is also known as Skanda. It also contains a number of legends about Shiva, and the holy places associated with him. This Mahāpurāṇa was recited by the sage Vyasa, and is available in distinct parts, sometimes fragmented too.” Source Wikipedia
